Side X

Side X is my graduation project for my postgraduate degree in Creative Processes (PUC Minas), in which I created reinterpretations of classic rock albums.

If the "B-side" of records, according to popular culture, corresponds to tracks that aren't necessarily in people's immediate memory or frequently present in well-known band playlists, what would Side X be? Its advanced position in the alphabet already reveals the project's obscure layers.

Not surprisingly, the project's subtitle is: "the dark side of rock albums, never released". One of my most practiced creative techniques over the years is visual metaphor, where what is almost (at first glance) the same, in the interpretation of meanings, can be completely different.

The final product is a box set with 10 graphic reinterpretations, in the form of HD adhesive vinyl fixed to 2mm MDF bases, physically very similar to vinyl inserts.

About the logo: the inspiration for the project's logo is the process of distortion of a stone's image as it falls into water and gradually sinks, disintegrating and gradually forming something amorphous. It's still a stone, but not in its original geometry. As it reaches deeper, less explicit layers of the water's surface, it takes on a different character. Replace the stone with the shape of a stylized disc and you have the entire logo scenario.

Note: it's important to clarify that no artificial intelligence was used at any stage of Lado X. Everything is done through digital painting and image editing.
