Postgraduate Studies at PUC Minas - E-book: Applications in Education

The innovation in this project lies in the intersection between the manual, organic, "traditional" nature of creative processes and technology.

The visual metaphor created here needed to convey the idea that two seemingly antagonistic worlds are, in fact, complementary. With the advent of personal devices (mainly smartphones and tablets), as well as the dynamics of consumption – the user is practically glued to the screen – ignoring new forms of teaching and learning that address these contexts would be to throw away the entire potential of the course.

I created the visual combination of two basic elements here: the book, representing classical, physical education, based on texts or manuscripts or typed on a three-dimensional keyboard, when we are not talking about typewriters, together with the representative of the digital technological sphere: the USB port. Both form a single device, whose cable comes from a part of the e-book's title itself.

The background of the visual identity is formed by overlapping squares with rounded corners, alluding to a "cloud" of applications (obviously, in the contemporary world, we all recognize these squares as app icons on our everyday devices).

Throughout all the colors present, we have gradients, an essential aesthetic when the subject is technology. Light and shadow, in the context of screens, means gradient; it is, literally, a reflection of the digital age.

This e-book was used in presentations for teachers interested in pursuing a postgraduate degree in Creative Education, more specifically on application technology as a tool for enriching learning.

Interestingly, speaking about my portfolio, this visual identity is particularly "simple," let's say, in terms of its finish. Curiously, it was a challenge to develop an image with a more "flat" digital appearance, as we call a graphic design that doesn't contain rustic textures; it's more planar from this point of view. The simplicity is only apparent in many cases.
