Book - Memory

Date

May 2018

Memory is the name I gave to this graphic and textural production, of my own authorship in both senses.

Official plot: An urban square is appropriated and tries to cope with the traumatic experience. Its challenge is to find a way to survive, even if it is extinct. The consciousness of this square is the narrator's voice of the story. Besides it, we have a hummingbird, a lamppost, and a group of moths that gain personality through the protagonist's vision.

Through combined graphic techniques, metaphors were created between each stage of the square's appropriation, using collage, illustration (digital painting), text, calligrams, verses, and image editing. Some visual montages underwent adaptations throughout the pages, depending on the emotion inserted in the narrative. It's not necessary to explain more than necessary so as not to spoil the experience of those who view the work.

There was a scriptwriting process for the characters, with characterization of voices, participation in the story, visual concepts, and a planning/production schedule.

The result was a physical (printed) book for the postgraduate course in Creative Processes in Word and Image - PUC Minas, in the first module.

Here, you will find the complete production, in the form of images of the double-page spreads. At the end, a "diptych work," part of the overall project. By definition: a diptych work, in the context of visual arts, refers to a work of art divided into two panels, which together form a single piece. These panels may be fixed together or presented side by side, and generally represent a single image or scene that is completed when viewed together.
