Ses Palladium Theater - Belo Horizonte
One of the major facets of Mel Lisboa's work is interpreting Rita Lee, the queen of Brazilian rock.
I developed this original painting as a tribute to one of Rita Lee's wishes: that her ashes be scattered in her garden, so that they would become a succulent lettuce. The work's name is the scientific name for the food. The actress, characterized as Rita, in one of her iconic looks and poses, occupies the center of the painting.
During the tour of the show "Rita Lee - A Musical Autobiography," in which Mel revisits the artist's entire discography through a dance theater performance, in Belo Horizonte (Teatro Sesc Palladium), I personally delivered the framed artwork.
