Bateras Beat Music School

Project type

Digital painting

Date

April 2024

My relationship with Bateras Beat was established through Amilcar Christófaro, a partner at the main branch (Pinheiros - SP), a drum teacher and member of the bands Torture Squad, Kisser Clan, and Damage Inc. BBMS is the largest network of music schools in Latin America, with branches in Italy, China, and Australia, totaling more than 40 locations worldwide.

The school has been developing a line of merchandise focused on screen printing (Bateras Beat Music Wear), whose visual themes are defined by artistic style and regions of Brazil, always featuring national and independent artists. I was invited by Amilcar to inaugurate this project, representing Heavy Metal.

The artwork generally consists of instruments that are part of the programs taught at Bateras Beat: drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, and vocals. In the foreground, there is a staff formed by overlapping drumsticks, supported by the rim of a drum tom. In the background, pickups, strings, and nuances of the keys of a keyboard/piano form the center of the depicted instruments. In the upper part of the artwork, the ends of plugs form a kind of "belt," along with microphone details on the sides. In the lower part of the artwork, treble clefs, the bridge, and integrated geometries of a Flying V reinforce the aggressiveness necessary for the context of the metal audience. Naturally, the typography follows the organic aesthetic with prominent graphic complements, essential in heavy artwork.
