Jairo Guedz - Tormentor - United Satans of America

Jairo "Tormentor" Guedz, as he has been known worldwide since the 1980s when he co-founded the biggest Brazilian metal band in history, Sepultura, invited me in 2021 to design one of the artworks for his personal brand - USA (United Satans of America).
The references given were: a primitive, organic, and dark aesthetic, including the Leviathan cross, the demon's head from one of his early works (Bestial Devastation - Sepultura, 1985), and the requirement of the title "Tormentor" to do justice to his stage name.
Evidently, anti-Christianity is also present as an explicit theme, being a central argument throughout Jairo's career. This artwork is no different.
The result consists of a front and back design for a t-shirt printed using silkscreen, following the tradition of the heavy metal market.
An important detail of the back artwork, whose nature is a pattern in my work: elements formed by a set of sub-elements. The cross made of nails. This is a resource I constantly use in my creative processes, as it elevates the power of the art. What would be just a visual object becomes a visual metaphor, with more layers of observation and enrichment of the overall meaning.
